BTMSEAL BT2K PU Elast

This is Bitumen-Polyurethane based, two-component, rapidly curing, permanent and highly flexible Component A that is produced for cold applied waterproofing material. Components A and B are prepared in adequate quantities and used by mixing together in the area of application.

PLACES OF USE

•As water and moisture proofing material in underground applications such as foundations, curtain wall and basement,

•As protection and waterproofing material for constructions and construction elements exposed to seepage water, interim and permanent water pressure,

•As waterproofing material in dry or damp-dry details such as terrace, balcony, roof, kitchen, bathroom, etc.

•For waterproofing of mineral surfaces such as concrete, stone, bricks, briquette, plaster, cement finish,

•In waterproofing applications against pressured water by reinforcing with 100 gr/m² polyester felt bearing, in wide areas and different material transitions,

•Water tanks (excluding drinking water tanks) and water channels,

•Used on plaster and cement based panels, old asphalt and EPDM sheets.

SURFACE PREPARATION

•The surface of application should be cleaned from dust, dirt, rust and oil and loose parts should be scratched.

•Pointed ends and corners on the area of application should be rounded.

•Iron and wooden wedges on the area of application should be removed and active water leakage and gaps, if any, should be repaired using suitable repairing material.

•Corners and edges should be chamfered with a diameter of at least 5 cm (cement based).

•Any ruined and eyelet hole surfaces should be repaired and closed by applying mortar prepared with the addition of silica sand in primer material with the help of a trowel.

•Defects larger than 5mm on the area of application and rod clearances on curtain walls should be filled in and repaired with suitable repair mortar.

•If there is any water, water vapor and efflorescence on the negative side, the application should not be performed on such surface.

•Surface roughening should not be performed on extremely impermeable (high resistance class) concrete and curtain walls in order to increase adherence.

•Expansion joints should be closed and insulation materials should be fully attached to the dilatation material.

•Maximum surface moisture content on the surface of application should not exceed 4%.

APPLICATION

•Application should be avoided in weather conditions with relative humidity above 75% and/or temperatures at and above 35°C.

•It should not be applied on frozen, melting surfaces or surfaces with the threat of rain or frost in 24 hours.

Primer:

•Ambient temperature : +8°C / +35°C

•Temperature of surface of application: +8°C / +30°C

•If surface moisture content is up to 5%, BTMSEAL AA 0106 should be used,

•If surface moisture content is up to 8%, BTMSEAL AW 6075 should be used.

•Adhesion test should be performed using the primer material before the primer application.

Application:

•Ambient temperature: +5°C / +35°C

•Temperature of surface of application: +5°C / +30°C

•Application tools: Brush, Roller, Airless Spray machine

•Mixture rate (wt): A : B = 1 : 1

Component A is added in component B slowly and mixed using a mixer of 400-600 cycle/minute for 3-5 minutes until homogenous mixture is obtained.

•Mixed material should be consumed within its pot life.

•The material is applied in at least two layers using a roller, airless spray machine or brush.

•BT2K PU Elast should be applied in 24 hours following the application of primer. Primer layer should be sanded if it has been more than 24 hours after the application of primer.

POINTS TO CONSIDER:

•The product should not be applied in temperatures below +5°C or in cases that the temperature is expected to decrease below +5°C within 24 hours following its application.

•The mixture should be prepared only using the components of product. No foreign materials should be added.

•It should not be applied on wet and frozen surfaces. It should not be applied on surfaces with a temperature below +5°C or above +30°C.

•The application should be protected against water, rain, frost, freeze and such until it is fully dried. The moisture rate of application surface should not be higher than 4%. Surface compressive strength should be at least 25 Mpa and bond strength should be 1,5 Mpa.

•Two components should be blended together thoroughly using a mechanical mixer. Be sure to avoid unmixed product components at the edges and bottom of packaging during mixing.

•Suitable primer should have been applied on the surface before application.

•The material should be prepared in consideration of the applicability period of material.

CONSUMPTION:

1,5 - 2,0 lt/m² should be applied for two layers applications.

15kg A + 15kg B or 20kg A + 20kg B

STORAGE CONDITION AND SHELFLIFE

•It should be stored in a dry and closed place kept away from sunlight.

•Shelf life is 12 months in unopened original packaging and suitable storage conditions (dry places in temperatures between 5°C and 25°C).

WARNINGS AND SUGGESTIONS

•The product should be kept away from sources of fire and smoking should be avoided.

•Gloves and goggles must be worn during application and eye and skin contact must be avoided.

•In case of eye and skin contact of material, they should be rinsed with plenty of water and medical advice should be sought immediately.

•Adequate ventilation should be available in the area of application.
