BTM Elastoself MD

It is a self-adhesive, cold-applied waterproofing membrane with a polyester felt carrier, made of bitumen modified with SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene), 1.5 mm thick,
covered with silicone foil on the lower surface, showing high elasticity. It is produced in 3 different models, with the upper surface covered with fine sand, aluminum foil and polyethylene film.

Elastoself MD is not only designed for cold climates, but may also be used as first layer membrane or as first layer membrane on POLPAN sheets in waterproofing to be made on any surfaces requiring elasticity.
Elastoself MD is used to obtain waterproofing on terrace roofs of buildings and sloping concrete roofs. It is an ideal material as a first layer membrane for light metallic roofs.

SURFACE PREPARATION

If the surface to be insulated is concrete, then it must have been finished with sloping grout burnished using a wooden trowel and be clean and dry. Before the application of the membrane, the surface must have been spread with bituminous solution undercoat BITUSOL (TS 103) or bituminous emulsion undercoat BITUMER (TS 113) and allowed to dry up.

APPLICATION

Elastoself MD self-adhesive bituminous waterproofing membrane is adhered to the Polpan surface on the roof by removing the silicone foil on the lower surface starting in a direction perpendicular to the slope at the lowest part of the roof. The membrane is heated up with oxyacetylene burner flame and then adhered to the surface. The rows must must be laid with some shift sideways. Elastoself MD membranes are overlapped 15cm on the short sides and 10cm on the long ones. While applying Elastoself MD, a membrane fixing screws is aplied at every 50cm to centre the overlapping seam of the long side of the membrane.

When applying at low air temperatures, Elastoself MD must be heated to increase adhesion performance.

PACKAGING

Elastoself MD is launched into the market in rolls 1m wide and 20m long.

STORAGE CONDITION AND SHELFLIFE

The membrane rolls should be stored vertically under a roof, protected from direct sunlight. If the rolls have to be stored outdoors for a long period of time, they must be covered with a protective layer in order to protect them from the sunlight. The membrane rolls or pallets should not be stacked on each other.

Shelf-life is one year from the production date in case it is stored in its sealed and undamaged package in dry ambient conditions at a temperature from +5°C to +25°C away from direct sunlight.
